Another US carrier rolls out the LG V40 ThinQ Android 9.0 Pie update

After Verizon and AT&T, it looks like U.S. Cellular might be the next carrier in the United States to release the long-awaited Android 9.0 Pie update for the LG V40 ThinQ. LG’s flagship hasn’t been among the first top-tier phones in the US to be updated to the latest version of Android, a bit of a letdown for those who spent so much money to buy one.As we mentioned earlier, AT&T and Verizon have already released the Android 9.0 Pie update, but Sprint and T-Mobile have yet to do the same. Now, U.S. Cellular hasn’t yet confirmed the LG V40 ThinQ Android 9.0 Pie rollout, but MyLGPhones discovered the update on the carrier’s servers.

Besides the usual Android 9.0 Pie new features and improvements, the update also includes an older April security patch, a bit of an unpleasant surprise. Apparently, the update should be available via OTA (over the air) and LG Bridge, but U.S. Cellular has yet to confirm its availability.

The V40 ThinQ is LG’s first flagship to receive the Android 9.0 Pie update in the United States, but two other phones, the V30 and V35 should be next. Unfortunately, there’s no telling when exactly LG will be able to provide these updates.
