Google Assistant will soon offer personalized picks and results

As part of Google I/O 2019, the company announced new personalized features that will be rolled out to Google Assistant. These new results, called Personal References, will be based on your own Assistant history. For example, you will be able to ask Google Assistant, “Hey Google, what’s the weather like at my mom’s house this weekend?” and Assistant will know that question refers to your own mother’s house, rather than a location that might also be called “Mom’s House.” You won’t have to give our her first name or her specific address to get an accurate answer to that question.

This kind of technology will allow Assistant to check your history with people, locations, and dates that you have stored in your contacts, calendar and more. Therefore, you can ask Google to get reminders to pick up a present for your anniversary, and you won’t have to remind Assistant when the anniversary takes place. You can ask to see photos of your daughter, and Assistant will know exactly which of your kids you are speaking about.

Google is also rolling out another personalized feature for supported smart displays called Picks for You. Again, this feature will use your previous searches, plus other contextual cues, to give answers to questions that are made just for you, such as podcasts that you might be interested in, recipes to cook in the kitchen and more. Both of these new Assistant features will be available in the coming months.
